HOW TO USE DECAL EYEBALLS ON YOUR ORIGINAL DOLLS
The author, Sylvia Ion, will soon be offering a manuscript of TIME-SAVING AND MONEY-SAVING Doll Sculpting techniques that she has never read anywhere else. She discovered all these procedures out of necessity. Here is an excerpt:

"Have you ever labored over the painting of eyeballs and still were not satisfied? Was one eye beautiful and one just O.K.? Me too!" "... After the bisque is fired, paint the whites of the eyes with a slick hi-gloss white paint. The decals need a glossy surface to adhere. Cut out and place the eyeballs in a dish of warm water. Slide the eyeball off the decal paper and into position on the bisque head and blot dry. The final step is to coat the entire eyeball area with clear nail polish..."
Where does one find these decals? RIGHT HERE! Or you can wait for the book and make your own decals. One decal sheet of eyeballs will be crammed with enough eyeballs to make large busts, plus large dolls, plus medium to large dolls, plus small to medium dolls, plus tiny dolls! I can't even begin to calculate the savings in glass eyes. And the time you will save by not having to struggle with matching painted eyes is a bonus! Color include Brown Blue and Green with white highlights. They are gorgeous! If you don't reveal your secret, no one will know.

BACK COVER:
I like everything BIG. I am not truly impressed unless things are done on a large scale. I have illustrated BIG BOOKS that teachers use in the classroom. I have painted murals on new baby's rooms and graphics on buildings. I like big hair -- not the big hair of the 70's but B-I-G hair from the era when it was fashionable to incorporate ships into your hair style. So is it surprising that I found myself making BIG dolls?
The first NADIA Doll conference I attended offered a display room. Mine was the biggest doll in the room. When I mentioned to a seasoned member that I was new, she said that she could point out my doll. When I asked her how she knew, she said that new artists always start big. Then she unwrapped three small sculpted heads from her purse and showed them to me. They were adorable -- but mine was BIGGER!
This book contains many of my doll-making secrets. I don't really want you to know them so I am trading them for the price of this book ($39.95). I have even included the mannequin body pattern I created so you don't have to find a commercial mannequin from which to make your own. Every doll I make seems to become experimental so I took pictures and wrote portions of this book while I was actually trying new techniques. If the technique did not work, it was not included in the book. I have also included ways to salvage horrible mistakes. I wish I had had this book before I wasted all that expensive slip. You really can make lemons out of lemonade -- and visa versa.
The goal is to make original BIG beautiful dolls. ...whatever it takes.
