BOOK REVIEW: >ONE ELEPHANT WENT
OUT TO PLAY, illustrated by Sylvia Ion is a counting
story utilizing the math concept of addition. This version
is fun because the web becomes a trampoline. A whimsical
touch is added when the number of
elephants on the web begin to grow to fill double pages
and the spider uses a nail for reinforcement. When the web
finally breaks, all of the elephants fall to the bottom
of the page. It could also be noted that the elephants
are of various colors and shades--just like children.
